Interview with Leila McCann
Leila McCann is a New York based Irish actress, she grew up traveling the world, playing the harp, and dancing. Since moving to New York she has made a career for herself in the theater. She produces and stars in off Broadway plays that have prestigious reputations. We have conducted an interview with her.
What do you consider your proudest achievement?
The Owl and The Pussycat was a proud achievement for me and I consider it my best performance, although my production of Seascape with Sharks and Dancer was also a huge success and its something that I'm very proud of, Tracey was the most challenging role I've ever played, I was so happy that the audience loved it.
Do you do anything else besides acting?
I'm a professional Irish harpist, I've been playing for the past 10 years. I'm also a dancer, I grew up dancing Ballet, Jazz and Spanish Flamenco dance.
Do you find that your cultural background helps you in the roles you play?
It absolutely does! International actors can infuse their roles with a cultural depth.
Do you have any exciting projects coming up?
Yes, I am going to be starring in a production of 'Rabbit Hole' which is a Pulitzer Prize winning play, it also received four Tony Award nominations! I'm very excited to get started, it will be held at the Producers Club.
Have you ever thought about breaking into the film industry?
Most definitely! I have a great love for film! I'm just waiting for the right project to come my way.
